Record Store Day Presents Black Friday 2011

UPDATED MONDAY 10/19/11 AT 10:55AM ET---WITH CONFIRMED PHISH AND CHRIS CORNELL RELEASES!

Ahhh...Thanksgiving. Time to be thankful for all we have in this economy. Once again, the folks behind Record Store Day have decided to a mini-RSD to add to our hectic holiday shopping season. From what I've heard, around 30 pieces will be released. The official press release is supposed to hit on the 20th, but here are some advance word on some of the items being released:

7" RELEASES

1) Doors L.A. Woman 7" Boxset. (5000 copies, each individually numbered). Features the singles--"Riders on the Storm", "The Changeling" and "Love Her Madly" Also features a special 7" of outtakes and studio chatter from the recording sessions. Also features an exact replication of the "Electric Woman" poster.

2) Janis Joplin Move Over! 7" Boxset. (5000 copies, each individually numbered). A limited-edition set of four 7" singles on virgin vinyl. Features "Call Me" b/w "Magic of Love" (unissued mono mix), "Piece of My Heart" b/w "Summertime" (stereo mix), "Raise Your Hand" b/w "Bo Diddley" (stereo mix) and "Move Over" b/w "My Baby" (unissued version, original mono mix prepared for cancelled single release). Includes reproductions of original picture sleeves, plus a temporary version of Janis' wrist tattoo.

3) Beatles Singles Collection 4x7" Boxset (5000 copies, each individually numbered).

Box set of 4 7" picture sleeves in metal tin, includes RSD branded adapter and poster, all tracks are newly remastered and appearing on vinyl for the 1st time.

1) Nirvana Nevermind the Singles 4x10" Box.....(5000 Copies, each individually numbered). Features Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Lithium and In Bloom with all original b-sides.

2) Pete Townshend/The Who Quadraphenia Demos 10" EP (Part 1 of 2...2nd 10" with remaining demos will come out next April for Record Store Day). Features 6 demos from the November 15th "Director's Cut" release....Only 4000 copies made and each is indvidually numbered.

Created from four-track recordings which the band mixed, dubbed and circulated as demos. Trey has said The White Tape exemplifies, perhaps more than any other studio effort, the band's unbridled creative freedom of the day.
